Sports Nutrition & Intuitive Eating

Through my keen understanding of sports nutrition and expertise in Intuitive Eating, I have developed unique strategies to enhance emotional and physical health as well as athletic performance. I have designed a model of learning that integrates ones internal wisdom; the how and why we eat, with ones external wisdom; evidenced based sports nutrition recommendations. 

 

Nutrition messaging can be challenging. Athletes either have too little, too much, or inaccurate nutrition information available. Consequently, they become vulnerable to messages that are unhelpful at best, unsafe at worst. We also know that, for a variety of reasons, athletes are more at risk of disordered eating behaviors. Intuitive eating approaches can be an effective preventative or early intervention strategy to help student-athletes pay enough attention to their eating behaviors, without becoming over-focused or fixated on food and eating. Mental health must always be considered when coaching and working with teen athletes.
